Idenheim Site VIII
April 2005

Following the deactivation of the 38th Tactical Missile Wing in June, 1966, the 587th MMS was merged into the 71st Tactical Missile Squadron. The 71st TMS remained on duty for almost three more years with the CGM-13 B Mace as part of the 36th Tactical Fighter Wing.

The 71st TMS was deactivated on April 30th, 1969.

The Idenheim Site was used by the U.S. Army until the early 1990's as a Patriot Anti-Missile Missile site. The site was abandoned by the US and returned to German control. The site is now in private hands, having been a used car storage area and most recently a paint ball arena.

Looking toward the exhaust tunnel. The RATO bottle flame suppression system and the overhead bay lights are among the few components left from the original Mace "B" installation. The torsion bar suspension system and all other components have been salvaged.
